We put in an offer on our first home. EXCITING!
It's the first home that we saw that we adored (we've seen 7 and I've had to talk myself into liking many of the homes). I don't know what's going to happen. Many people put down offers on multiple homes before getting that "one." Well, Brian and I see this as our home, and believe it COULD be the "one." Whatever the outcome, I suppose we'll be OK. We offered way lower than asking price, but it's our strongest offer. They seemed motivated to move this house, and it IS a short sale. Part of me feels like this house was being saved for us. It's just a Brian and Michelle home. The big thing is that we don't want to end up with a home that is going to be a problem for us. We'd rather walk away from any home than be shackled to a place that will kill us financially. We'll see what happens. The selling agent was already in contact with our agent before we saw the house and said he believes that he can push through a deal in less than 60 days. Less than 60 days - for a short sale. If they accept our offer...Just....wow.....
But we did ask God to shut the door if it's not for us at this time. What else could be ask? I am too full of emotion to think clearly. We even prayed before going into the house initially because truthfully, I wasn't interested in seeing this house. Ma grabbed a flyer from the box outside the home and told me I HAD to see this house. I mostly asked out agent to show it to appease my mother. Even then, I wouldn't have asked her to show it to us if she wouldn't have asked us if there were any other houses we wanted to see soon (she's never asked us that).
I feel like it IS our house already though. I am not worried, but I am excited to see what the seller has to say. If they don't accept our offer, hopefully no one else will bite and they will accept it at a later date? Even better, hopefully they'll accept the offer right away and wash their hands of the house. Leave it in the care of a loving expanding family who needs the property.
It HAS property, by the way - over an acre...It also has it's own well and septic. This wasn't a necessity for me in a home purchase, but it is DEFINITELY a bonus. It has just the right amount of trees on the property, and lining the back yard for privacy. It just fits us. It totally fits us. I wish we had the $$ to offer more and make the banks happy, but we come with what we have. I think even if I were to win millions in the lottery, I would want to purchase this house. That's how well it fits our family. Still, we come as we are. Honest, working people with good credit scores, savings that are nothing to sneeze at, and one baby with another on the way.
On that note, Brian says he's going to go crazy if we DO get the house and move right after Jr. is born. lol. Tatum wasn't even a week old when we moved counties to be closer to family. This house is 10 minutes from home, and closer to work. Good compromise! Yes, I do believe that this has to be our home.
