Tonight we had a good night with family and family friends. We celebrated Passover and had communion, and then we ate dinner and talked for a while. (I made Matzo Ball Soup, by the way, and it was a home run! This is a good thing, as I have never made Matzo Ball Soup before)...Anyway...
Brian and I announced that we are expecting again, and one of our family friends gave me a GREAT idea...One about making a "quiet book" for her grandson since her daughter is expecting another baby in a few weeks. This book is for the older one to amuse himself and to play with while she is with the newborn. Well, I have seen books that are made to be activity and quiet books, but she was giving me all sorts of ideas and inspiring me with ideas to make one for my little one (my current little one).
I am not a "crafty" person. I am creative, but I am not crafty. I took home economics in school and I did very well with cooking and sewing classes, but I suppose I lose interest in projects fairly quickly. lol. I am not trying to toot my own horn, because I am not good at everything, but whenever I really try at something, I do a good job - and if for some reason it doesn't turn out as well as I'd hoped it would, I work at it (after all, no one is perfect!)...Well, I work at it if I don't lose interest! Ahhh!
...and I've ALWAYS wished I was more crafty. I don't knit, sew, crochet, cross stitch, wood burn, weave, paint, draw or anything like that. My regular talents are solely for cooking, baking and making music...but I'd like to learn these more crafty ways! Especially sewing...It would be so handy, and I would love to MAKE clothing. I have great ideas. To MAKE clothing would be an excellent trait to have...I could start with something easy - scrubs. My husband and I are both nurses - we wear scrubs! ...and he's complained more than once about not having enough pockets on his scrubs....
So anyway, the "quiet book".....http://quietbook.blogspot.com/ ....Another blogger on Blogspot has some good ideas on what to include...I have some ideas of my own....I hope I can make this project take flight!

Wow! I've never heard of a quiet book, but that looks AWESOME. I might need to make one for Oscar, whether we have a new baby or not! ;-P
ReplyDeleteYes! I am getting ideas now, actually. Hopefully I'll start it soon....Actually, I need to get a sewing machine first! I better start looking up decent machines online. Maybe I'll try Craig's List :)
